Description

“Night” is a marble sculpture by Michelangelo Buonarroti of the New Sacristy in San Lorenzo in Florence. It’s one of the four allegories of the Day, and is located on the left on the sarcophagus of the tomb of Giuliano de’ Medici Duke of Nemours. The position of the sculpture is very reminiscent of “Leda with swan”, a painting by Michelangelo that has been lost. The Artistic Foundry Ferdinando Marinelli has created this particular “cut” to allow the work to be placed more easily in smaller spaces. The Opera is taken from the original model and is sold with a Certificate of Authenticity.
