Description

Giambologna was asked to create this monumental group by the Medici Granduca, that wanted to locate it under the Loggia dei Lanzi in the Signoria Square at Florence. He managed to sculpt it from 1574 to 1580. Is a masterpiece of the Mannerist art, with three figures wedged together to permit to the group to be beautifully seen from all the sides.
The mold used to execute the bronze work using the lost-wax casting process was produced directly in Florence by Ferdinando Marinelli Sr., and is currently in the collection of the Fonderia Artistica Ferdinando Marinelli
